TSBN Game of the Week

TSBN Game of the Week

60-and-over baseball

TOTS Blue came from behind in the top of the seventh inning this morning at Tucson Udall Park, scoring five runs and walked away with a 7-5 win over the TOTS White team. Ed Rife went 4 for 4, while Doc Thompson and Danny Price contributed three hits apiece. Thompson drove in two runs and Price knocked in four as TOTS Blue won a tough battle with TOTS White, who took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when Tim Tolson's RBI-single up the middle started a 3-run rally, giving his team a 5-2 lead. Pitcher Lloyd Barzell was saddled with the loss, despite pitching all seven innings. Thompson picked up the win. Barzell and Thompson were locked in a pitching duel for the first five innings. The TOTS White team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, thanks to "small ball" as Carl Brutovsky reached on an infield hit and Chico Bigham followed with a bunt single down the first base line. Tolson followed with a hit up the middle and the TOTS White team had the early lead.

TOTS Notes:  Newcomer Jim Sears, looking to join the TOTS, played his first game today and was thrown into the fire early as he went up against the club's top pitcher, Doc Thompson. Sears, 65,  did walk once and reached on an infield hit.
