Tucson Toros keep on rolling at MSBL World Series

Men's Senior Baseball League World Series

65-and-over Cactus 1 Division

They did it again.

The Tucson Toros, who won 13-3 on Day 1 of the MSBL World Series, roll on with a 25-5 thumping today over the Cal Vets at Fitch Park in Mesa.

Once again, it was the "Big 5" from the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers leading the way with a combined 10 hits and 10 RBI. John Mathews had the big hit of the day with a booming double to go along with two singles, while Mike Dawson, Joe Opocensky and Tim Tolson collected two hits apiece. Ken Nebesny, the fifth member of the TOTS crew, picked up his third hit in two games. Nebesny is playing in his first ever  MSBL World Series.

Meanwhile, Opocensky was cruising on the mound. Opocensky went the distance and ran into trouble only twice, while setting the Cal Vets down 1-2-3 in four of the seven innings.

The Toros will try to make it three in a row tomorrow morning when they go up against the San Diego Heat in Scottsdale at the Salt River Complex, spring training home of the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Game time: 9:30 a.m.

Way to go, guys!
