Tucson Aces take it on the chin

MSBL World Series

65-and-over division

Tucson Aces

The Tucson Aces will try to even their record at 2-2 today at Riverview Park, spring training home of the Chicago Cubs, when they take on the San Antonio Red Sox in a fourth-round game at the Men's Senior Baseball League World Series.

Coming of a 21-1 drubbing yesterday at the hands of the unbeaten Chicago Grays (3-0), the Aces are now in a must win situation. Another loss and chances are slim the Aces, made up of members of the Tucson Old Timers baseball club -- which plays weekly at Udall Park, will qualify for Thursday's playoffs in the 65-and-over division.

As for yesterday's game, it wasn't pretty. The Aces' starter Arnie White was shelled early and the Tucson team was down 9-0 after just two innings of play.

Dennis Crowley had three hits, while knocking in the lone run and Pigpen Price went 2 for 3 for the Aces.
