Tucson Aces 9 Team America 8

MSBL World Series

65-and-over division

Tucson Aces

A relay throw to the plate in the ninth inning wins it!

With two-out and the tying run heading for home, centerfielder Dennis Crowley threw to pitcher Ron Petersen, who turned and threw to catcher Bob Daliege for the final out of the game today at the Colorado Rockies' spring training complex in Scottsdale. Daliege applied the tag and the 65-and-over Tucson Aces won their first game at the MSBL World Series, 9-8, over Team America from Wisconsin.

The Aces, 1-1, held a 9-5 lead heading into the ninth inning, but an infield error and two walks loaded the bases for Team America (0-2). With two outs and three runs in, Crowley ran down a single to left center and fired his relay throw to Petersen.

Petersen's throw was right on the money and the Aces, after a 26-6 devastating loss on Saturday to Canada, bounced back and grabbed their first win of the senior World Series. The Aces' Tim Tolson and Brian Reilly drilled RBI-triples today.

The Aces take on the unbeaten (2-0) Chicago Grays tomorrow at 12:30 at Tempe Diablo, annex field #4.
