New England 13 Tucson Aces 10

MSBL World Series

65-and-over division

Tucson Aces

It's over for the 65-and-over Tucson Aces.

New England held on to beat the Aces at Tempe Diablo Stadium this afternoon, 13-10.

Tucson Old Pueblo Club star Mike Morales, who started for New England today, left after seven innings with a slim 11-10 lead. Frank Castillo, also from the Old Pueblo Club, pitched two strong innings for New England and picked up the save. The Aces had a runner on in the top of the ninth, but Castillo fanned two of the last three batters to earn the save.

The Aces sent George Gafner, a member of the Tucson Arizona Rattlers, to the mound to start the game and was relieved by Arnie White and Chico Bigham, both members of the Tucson Old Timers club.

The Aces finish 1-4 this week at the MSBL World Series, while New England finished 2-3. Both teams failed to make the playoffs this year.
