Reilly a "hot" TOTS' hitter in February

Brian Reilly, 65, led the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers in hits and runs and batting average during the month of February. Reilly played in 10 games and batted 36 times, resulting in 23 hits and 20 runs scored. His batting average: a healthy .639.

Tim Tolson was second in hits with 21, Dick Ducklow was third with 18 and Pigpen Price finished fourth in hits with 17. Dave Byars, Doc Thompson and Joe Opocensky tied for fifth in hits with 16 apiece.

The top RBI man for February went to Price with 16 runs-batted-in, while Thompson and Ron Carlson tied for second with 14 apiece. Tolson was third with 13.

Opocensky played in just seven games and actually owned a blistering .696 batting average, but batted just 23 times -- 13 less at bats than Reilly. Tim Boyd played in just four games for the month, but he certainly made the most of his at bats -- going 10 for 13, a .769 average.

Joe Aparicio was the top hitter for the 80-somethings. Aparicio, 83, had four hits in 30 at bats with three runs batted in and a batting average of .133.

On the mound, Arnie White recorded the most wins for the month with three.
