Alkins grabs a double-double, Trier scores 19 in Wildcats win over ASU

Arizona Wildcats Baseketball

Rawle Alkins grabs a double-double and Allonzo Trier scores 19 points as 7th-ranked Arizona (27-4) turns a one-point lead at halftime into a 73-60 win in Tempe today over Arizona State.

Up 30-29 at the half, Arizona scores the first 11 points in the second half and puts the clamps on the Sun Devils down the stretch for the Pac-12 win and a share of the conference title.

If, and it is a BIG IF, Oregon State can upset Oregon later today in Corvallis, the Wildcats could win the Pac-12 Conference outright with a 16-2 record. Worst case scenario the Beavers will probably falter at home and Oregon will get the top seed for the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas next week.

Lauri Markkanen did it all in the second half today to ignite the Wildcats. With just one point at the half, Markkanen went on to block three shots, score 10 points and grab nine boards, but it was Alkins who filled the stat sheet with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Kadeem Allen also scored in double figures with 12 points, while Chance Comanche netted eight points off the bench.

Arizona out rebounded the Sun Devils 50-27, but shot just 39 percent from the field (23 of 59) and 4 of 17 from three-point land (23.5 percent).

Arizona finishes the regular season with a 27-4 record and head home later today and begin to prepare for the Pac-12 Conference Tournament.

Way to go, Wildcats!

Update: Oregon rolls over Oregon State, 80-59. Share Pac-12 title with our Wildcats and grab top seed for Pac-12 Conference Tournament.
