Byars, Ochoa lead Team Blue to 11-4 win in TOTS' game

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

David Byars went 2 for 4 and knocked in three runs, while Jesse Ochoa banged out three hits and knocked in three runs to lead Team Blue to a 11-4 win over Team White today at Udall Park in a 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers (TOTS) game.

Team Blue took advantage of five Team White errors in the top of the first inning to score five runs and took an early lead in the game. Team White never got untracked in this one. Lloyd Barzell went 2 for 3 and a walk for Team White and the hard-hitting lefty Reed Palmer returned to action, after a two-week layoff due to a hand injury, but had bad luck at the plate for Team White. Palmer hit a smash down the first baseline in his first at bat, but Byars backhanded the ball at first for the out. In his last at bat, Palmer hit into a double play to end a Team White rally.

Not a good day for Team White at the plate or in the field.

Hard-throwing, right-hander Arnie White picked up the win, while Team White's Pigpen Price struck out four batters and allowed just four earned runs, but was saddled with the loss.

The TOTS will be back in action at Udall on Wednesday. Game time: 10 a.m.
