Rattlers knock off the Tucson Aces 8-3
60-and-over Tucson Aces
Oldtimers Baseball
The Arizona Rattlers Tino Nevarez threw six strong innings and reliever Ernie Hernandez threw a shutout inning in the seventh to lead the Arizona Rattlers to a 8-3 win over the 60-and-over Tucson Aces today at Mission Manor Park.
The Aces just couldn't get the bats going today. Down 4-0 early, the Aces could muster only eight hits -- and five of the those came from the middle of the batting order as Tim Tolson went 3 for 3 and Tim Boyd added two hits on three trips to the plate.
Tolson had one run batted in for the Aces and Reed Palmer knocked in the other two runs, both on sacrifice fly balls to deep right field.
Pete Maldonado pitched all seven innings for the Aces. A couple of untimely errors led to four runs in the top of the first for the Rattlers. It was a competitive game after the first inning, but when the dust had settled and the final out was made, the Rattlers had scattered 16 hits around the confines of Mission Manor Park.
The Aces will be looking for a little payback when the Rattlers visit the Aces at Udall Park next month.
