Tucson Aces thump Old Pueblo, 13-1

Tucson Aces

60-and-over baseball

The 60-and-over Tucson Aces have battled two south side teams for years -- the Arizona Rattlers and the Old Pueblo Club.

A few years ago, the Aces took in on the chin on a regular basis, but not anymore.

Today at Santa Rita Park, the Aces rolled to a 13-1 win over Old Pueblo and now own a nine-game combined winning streak over the two 60-and-over south-side teams.

Ernie Escala pitched five innings and earned the win for the Aces, while Mike Dawson came on in relief and hurled two scoreless innings. Reed Palmer and Tim Tolson were a combined 8 for 8 today with four runs scored and five RBI.

The Aces jumped out to 2-0 lead in the first inning and added another five runs by the end of the third  for a commanding 7-1 lead. The Aces received hits from 11 players and the rookie on the ball club -- 61-year-old Steve Foster, the youngest member of the club, collected two hits and drove in three runs, while the fleet-footed Tim Boyd reached base four times and scored three runs.

Way to go, Aces!
