Maldonado, Ryan lead Team White to 6-1 TOTS' win

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

Pete Maldonado allowed four hits and pitched seven strong innings as Team White beat Team Blue 6-1 today at Udall Park in a 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers game.

Team Blue's leadoff batter Bob Daliege went 3 for 3 and Pigpen Price singled and that was it off Maldonado. Ron Ryan went 3 for 3 and drove in three runs for Team White.

Brad Vermeer pitched six innings for Team Blue and was saddled with the loss. Team Blue had a chance for a big rally in the sixth, but a running catch by Team White's Phil Gordon saved the day. With two runners on, John Mathews drilled a shot to right field, but Gordon ran it down to snuff out the rally and Maldonado would sail through the seventh to clinch the win.

The TOTS return to action on Friday at Udall. Game time: 10 a.m.
