6-run 7th lifts Team Blue to 12-8 TOTS' win

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

Valentine's Day Game

Team Blue's hard-hitting lineup waited until the very end of today's 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers game to unleash their bats.

Trailing 8-6 with one out in the top of the seventh inning, Team Blue's Ken Nebesny, Mike Dawson, Mike Steele, Reed Palmer, Dennis Crowley and Steve Foster came up with key hits off Team White's Pete Maldonado and turned a two-run deficit into a six-run rally for a 12-8 win over Team White.

It looked like Maldonado and Team White had things in control, but three walks with one out in the books proved costly and Team Blue's bats came alive. Steele led Team Blue with four RBI, including a two-run triple in the third and a two-run single in the seventh.

Team White's leadoff batter Roger Beebe went 3 for 4 today, while the hard-hitting Tim Tolson collected two hits and knocked in three runs.

Dawson pitched 1 1/3 innings and picked up the pitching victory in relief of Brad Vermeer.

The TOTS will take the weekend off and return to action at Udall on Monday. Game time: 10 a.m.
