Wildcats devour 8th-ranked Utes
Arizona Wildcats Basketball
T.J. McConnell ignited Arizona with 16 points and six assists, while Stanley Johnson poured in 18 points in the second half as the tenth-ranked Wildcats crushed eighth-ranked Utah 69-51 at McKale Center tonight.
Arizona out rebounded Utah 40-19 and dominated at both ends of the court for 33 of the 40 minutes as the Wildcats improve to 16 -2 overall and 4-1 in the Pac 12. Brandon Ashley added 14 points, hitting six of nine from the field, while grabbing eight boards. Johnson had a game-high nine rebounds and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson grabbed seven boards, while holding Utah senior Delon Wright to just 10 points.
The Wildcats held the Utes to 39 percent shooting, while Arizona finished at 49 percent, hitting 26 of 53 from the field. Utah canned nine three-pointers in 19 attempts, while the Wildcats made just one three-point shot in seven attempts.
Way to go, Wildcats!
