Southwest Senior Baseball League
60-and-over
The Aces are an offshoot of the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers (TOTS), the senior baseball organization which is in its 48th year at Udall Park. The roster of the Aces is comprised mostly of the "younger" TOTS and the competition through out the year is considered a step above from the weekly TOTS' games played every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Udall.
Somewhere between 15 and 20 games are played through out the year by the Aces as they lock horns with two South Tucson 60-and-over clubs, the Arizona Rattlers and the Old Pueblo Club. The Rattlers' home field is Mission Manor Park and the Old Pueblo Club makes its home at Santa Rita Park.
The Aces first game in 2015 is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 9 A.M. at Mission Manor against the Rattlers. The Aces closed out 2014 with three consecutive wins over the Rattlers, the latest win a 5-1 victory in mid-December.
The Southwest League has been around for six years and for the first four years it was the Old Pueblo Club and the Arizona Rattlers grabbing most of the wins. Not anymore. The last two years it's been the Aces with the upper hand.
The Aces will return to the Men's Senior Baseball League (MSBL) World Series in mid-October. The Aces have two years (2013, 2014) under their belt at the prestigious senior tournament.
