Ohio State knocks off top-ranked Alabama

College Football Playoffs

Ohio State (13-1) knocks off top-ranked Alabama 42-35 tonight at the Sugar Bowl to set up a meeting with second-ranked Oregon on Jan. 12 for the National Collegiate Football Championship in Arlington, Texas.

The fourth-ranked Buckeyes fought off the Crimson Tide (12-2) late in the fourth quarter and with less than two minutes left covered an onside kick, after Alabama had scored to pull within seven points.

It still wasn't over as Alabama got the ball back one more time and started a drive from their own 22- yard line with less than 90 seconds remaining in regulation. The Buckeyes ended Alabama's hope for a  national title with an interception in the end zone as time expired.
