Arizona climbs a Hill to an amazin' win

Arizona Wildcats Football

Arizona  came up with the Hail Mary of all Hail Mary's as quarterback Anu Solomon connected on a 47-yard pass to senior receiver Austin Hill in the corner of the end zone at Arizona Stadium tonight and the Wildcats beat California and walked away with a 49-45 Pac-12 win.

Arizona improves to 4-0 and 1-0 in the Pac-12 Conference.

With no time on the clock, Hill hauled in the pass as 50,000 screaming Arizona fans roared their approval. Bounced out of the pocket, Solomon ran to his right, set, and unleashed the bomb from just outside the midfield stripe. The ball spiraled through the night sky and landed on the finger tips of Hill as he fell backwards, with both feet firmly planted in the corner of the end zone.

Solomon ends up with 520 yards passing, 46 rushing yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. Hill caught the game winner and on the night hauled in eight passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns, while Cayleb Jones caught 13 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns.

California led by 22 points at the half and opened the fourth quarter with a 31-16 lead. Arizona scored 33 points in the final 14 minutes. The Wildcats ran 106 plays during the game. California snapped the ball 72 times.

Arizona never led in the game until the scoreboard showed no time on the clock.

What a game! Way to go, Wildcats!
