3-run 8th inning lifts Diamondbacks to 6-5 win over Phillies

 NLCS

Game 4

Alek Thomas hit a two-run homer to tie the game in the eighth inning, and Gabby Moreno knocked in the go-ahead run with a single to the gap in left-center as the Arizona Diamondbacks came from behind for a 6-5 thrilling win over the Philadelphia Phillies tonight in Game 4 of the NLCS.

Thomas and Moreno, a couple of 23-year-olds, supplied the offensive punch, and the Diamondbacks used a relief corps of eight pitchers to keep the Phillies at bay. Once again, Phillies closer Craig Kimbrel was saddled with the loss. Kevin Ginkel gets the win, and Paul Sewald, who struck out Trea Turner to end the game, picks up the save.

The D-backs even the series at 2-2, and suddenly, after being down two games to none with losses earlier in the week at Philly, will now send ace Zac Gallen to the mound Saturday at Chase Field with a shot at going up 3-2 in the NLCS.

What a night for the Diamondbacks!

ALCS

Game 5

Jose Altuve hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning in Arlington, Texas, tonight as the Astros won Game 5 of the ALCS, 5-4, over the Rangers, and now head back to Houston up 3-2 in the series.
