Fiesta Bowl outcome not what Arizona fans were looking for

Arizona Wildcats Football

It wasn't pretty.

Arizona falls to Boise State this afternoon 38-30 at the Vizio Fiesta Bowl in Glendale.

The Wildcats spot the Broncos 21 points in the first quarter and then claw their way back with a chance to tie the game in the final minute of regulation.

Their final attempt wasn't pretty, either, as quarterback Anu Solomon is tackled short of the goal line as time expires and the Wildcats end up losing their final two games of the year and finish with a 10-4 record, while Boise takes home the Fiesta Bowl hardware and heads home with a 12-2 record.

Instead of throwing the ball out of bounds as the precious seconds ticked away, Solomon moves to his right and is sacked at the 10-yard line by Boise's Kamalei Correa and the clock runs out, ending the Wildcats season on a sour note.

Solomon, a freshman, played like it at times, but still managed to throw for 335 yards and a touchdown. He was outplayed by his counterpart, Boise quarterback Grant Hedrick, who threw for 309 yards and a touchdown, but had the benefit of an assortment of offensive plays to keep his team in the driver's seat. On the other hand, Solomon scampered out of the pocket time after time after time, ran to his right and into nothing but trouble as the Bronco defense kept him on his heels.

Casey Skowron booted three field goals for the Wildcats. Nick Wilson rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown, but left the game with a possible concussion and was replaced by Tellis Jones-Grigsby, who rushed for 39 yards and hauled in four receptions for 40 yards.

There was plenty of blame to go around, but the game is over and another season awaits. Regroup and go get 'em, Wildcats!
