Arizona 87 Utah Valley 56

Arizona Wildcats Basketball

Arizona, ranked No. 3 in the country, had very little trouble dismantling visiting Utah Valley tonight at McKale Center.

Arizona wins it 87-56 with Stanley Johnson leading the way with 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while Dusan Ristic and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson came off the bench to score 13 and 12 points, respectively. Gabe York also finished in double figures with 11 points as coach Sean Miller cleared the bench in this one. Thirteen players saw action and ten scored -- including seldom used Craig Victor who tossed in six points, while reserve point-guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright tallied seven points and dished out three assists.

The Wildcats shot 59 percent from the field (31 of 52 shots), while Utah Valley was held to 36 percent shooting (17 of 47). Arizona had nine steals in the game and out rebounded the Wolverines, 40-25.

On a side note, you would never obtain any of the above information from Bill Walton, who was supposed to be one of the announcers during the game. If he said anything about the game, I must have missed it.

As with most blowouts, the announcers try to find something to talk about. In Walton's case that is never a problem. In reality, there was a basketball game going on tonight. I'm glad I watched it, but sorry I listened to it.

As for our Wildcats, they move to 9-0 on the season, but still remain behind Kentucky and now Duke in the latest AP poll. Up next: Michigan on Saturday.
