New Year's Eve Game

Jesse Ochoa, 63, saved the best for last this morning at Udall Park when he went 5 for 5 and knocked in the winning run with a two-out single to left in the bottom of the seventh inning as Team Blue edged Team White 11-10 in a Tucson Old Timers (TOTS) baseball game.

It was the final game of the 2014 season for the TOTS and as it turns out it was Ochoa who provides the game-winning hit on New Year's Eve, drilling a fastball from Bob Daliege over the head of left fielder Ron Carlson.

Billy Heiny, 85, went the distance for Team Blue to pick up the win and Daliege was saddled with the loss. Daliege held a 10-7 lead going into the sixth inning, but a couple of costly infield errors down the stretch by Team White led to the loss.

The TOTS begin their 48th season Friday, Jan. 2, at Udall Park. The 60-and-over baseball club was founded in 1968 and the members currently play year round --  three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday).
