60-and-over baseball
After a month layoff, Pigpen Price will return to the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers (TOTS). Price will come off the disabled list after nursing an on-again-off-again bone spur problem in the left foot and will return to action on Monday, Aug. 25.
At the ripe old age of 69, Price is not alone on the TOTS with those awful spurs. "They seem to be everywhere, hands, feet and elbows. I thought spurs were something a cowboy wears, but I guess the spurs are more of calcium deficiency and certainly not something John Wayne would have attached to his dusty boots -- back in the day," says Price, a member of the senior baseball organization since 2008.
In any case, it'll be a big kick to be back on the field of play.
