Disastrous road trip almost over for Diamondbacks

By the end of the day, the Arizona Diamondbacks will be catching a flight and heading home from  a disastrous 10-game road trip. The D'backs play the getaway game in Washington today against the high-flying Nationals -- winners of nine straight. Arizona has just two wins thus far on the trip and are 5-13 for the month of August -- not counting today's encounter.

 I feel bad for them. Undoubtedly, the Diamondbacks would just as soon see the season end today, but they return home with 34 games left on the regular schedule.
