USA eliminated from World Cup

The USA put up a valiant effort in extra time but lost 2-1 to Belgium at the World Cup today -- all three goals scored in the match came during the extra time after a scoreless 90 minutes of soccer.

Goalkeeper Tim Howard kept the USA in the match and was credited with 16 saves -- a World Cup record.

Howard was sensational, but the lack of offense by the USA would be their downfall -- despite an exciting goal in the 107th minute by Julian Green.

Belgium advances to take on Argentina on Saturday and the USA team heads home.

It was truly a battle to the end.
