At the break

At the break

It's all-star time and the baseball world considers this moment in time as the halfway mark of the major league season.

For us Arizona fans, we pretty much know how our Diamondbacks are faring. Not good. A cellar-dweller. But, how about the rest of the teams in the majors? Who's in first?

In the National League West, the front-running LA Dodgers (54-43) hold a one-game lead over San Francisco (52-43). In the NL Central, the Milwaukee Brewer (53-43) hold a one-game advantage over the St. Louis Cardinals (52-44), while over in the NL East, the Washington Nationals (51-42) are practically in a dead heat with the Atlanta Braves (52-43).

Over in the American League, Baltimore (52-42) is in first place in the AL East, Detroit (53-38) enjoys the top spot in the AL Central and over in the AL West, it's Oakland out in front with a 59-36 record -- the best won and loss record in the majors.

Even with the best record, the Oakland A's are in a dogfight with the LA Angels (57-37), who just happen to have the second best record in baseball at the break -- 20 games over .500 and a five-game winning streak.
