Nine-month batting stats for the MSBL World Series-bound TOTS

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

Playing in the Men's Senior Baseball League World Series is not an easy undertaking for the players in the older divisions who participate every year in the prestigious tournament held in Phoenix where close to 3,000 players and 300 teams converge to play America's Favorite Pastime.

This year marks the 35th year for the MSBL World Series.

The 18-and-over players all the way up to the 50-and-over divisions still have their legs under them and can sail through a grueling five, maybe six, maybe seven, and sometimes eight games in one week.

The old-timers, 60-and-over and all the way up to the 75-and-over divisions find the going a bit rough at times. Muscle aches, broken bones...well you name, a lot can go wrong on the ball field.

So, the players need to prepare themselves.

Ten members of the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers have done just that. They have played nine months -- January to September -- and now into the first part of October to get themselves in shape for the senior world series.

Below is the batting stats through September for the 10 TOTS players who'll head for the tourney and compete in their respective age groups, starting on October 16 and ending for some of the players on Halloween.

Trick or treat. The TOTS players hope for a big treat and just maybe an MSBL World Series ring.
