Men's Senior Baseball League World Series
65-and-over division
Rudy Duarte, from the Tucson Old Pueblo Club, tossed the first six innings, while Larry Abramson, from the Tucson Old Timers, pitched three innings in relief as the Tucson Toros shutout the St. Paul Saints, 9-0, in the opening-round game of the Men's Senior Baseball League World Series today at Red Mountain Park in Mesa.
The Toros pitching staff received plenty of support with the bats as Mike Dawson (photo above) banged out two hits and drove in four runs, while Randy Livingston contributed two hits and knocked in two runs. John Mathews and Sam Dean also knocked in a run apiece.
Tucson (1-0) will head for the Maryvale Sports Complex, the spring training home of the Milwaukee Brewers, for a 1:30 PM game Tuesday against the Canadian team from Red Deer.
