Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)
60-and-over baseball
Smilin' Bobby Long went 4 for 4 and drove in three runs to lead Team Blue's 20-hit attack in a 9-7 win over Team White in a 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers game this morning at Udall Park.
Long, who joined the TOTS in February, has been a hitting machine from Day 1 and is certainly a tough out with his ability to hit to all fields. Some of his teammates followed along today including two newcomers -- Sam Dean and Randy Livingston -- who received their hats this morning and are now official members of the organization. Dean went 1 for 4 for Team Blue, while Livingston went 2 for 4 for Team White, scored two runs and drove in a run.
Team Blue's John Mathews continued his hot hitting with a 3 for 4 day, while winning pitcher Joe Opocensky aided his own cause with three hits of his own. Team White collected 17 hits as the steady Ken Nebesny went 4 for 5 and scored twice, while pitcher Ernesto Escala took the loss for Team White but had a good day at the plate with three hits and three RBI.
Two players were injured today. Jesse Ochoa left the game with an ankle injury and Rob Morse was forced out of the game with a shoulder injury. Both players are expected to be back on Monday.
The TOTS return to action at Udall on Monday. Game time: 9 a.m.
