The Los Angeles Dodgers own the best record in baseball and sit atop the NL West for the first time in four months. Things could change tonight but, as of this posting, the Dodgers are 36 games over .500 at 85-49, while the Tampa Bay Rays own the best record in the American League with a 84-49 record. That could change tonight as well as the Rays host the Boston Red Sox (76-59).
The Dodgers shaky hold on first place in the NL West and bragging rights for the best record in baseball could change in a matter of minutes as the San Francisco Giants (84-49) are on the verge of taking down the Milwaukee Brewers (82-52) this afternoon. In fact, they just did with a four-run eighth inning to win 5-1 just moments ago to tie for the best record with the Dodgers -- both teams tied at 85-49 with 28 regular-season games to go in the 2021 season.
