Ristic, York lead Wildcats to win over UCLA
Arizona Wildcats Basketball
On a night when the five starters couldn't get the ball in the basket, seventh-ranked Arizona relied on a 27-point performance from the bench to knock off UCLA tonight at McKale, 57-47.
Gabe York chipped in 13 points and Dusan Ristic pumped in 12 points and the Wildcats held off the Bruins despite shooting 34 percent from the field (18 of 53).
T.J. McConnell led the Arizona starters with 11 points, most of those coming in the final minutes of the game, while Stanley Johnson was a dismal 1 for 9 from the field, but managed seven points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Arizona missed its first eight shots in the first half before battling back to take a 32-18 lead into the locker room, but in the second half the Wildcats allowed the Bruins to score the first 17 points to take a 35-32 lead. The Arizona defense clamped down and UCLA would score just 12 points the rest of the way.
Arizona improves to 24-3 and 12-2 in the Pac-12.
It's on to Colorado and Utah next week.
Wildcat Note: With the win over the Bruins, Arizona's home winning streak continues...now at 36 games!
