Rattlers come from behind to edge Aces, 8-7
Southwest Senior Baseball League
60-and-over Tucson Aces
The Arizona Rattlers came from behind to beat the 60-and-over Tucson Aces 8-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning today at Mission Manor Park as Chuy Rodriquez supplied the walk-off win with a shot down the right field line, driving in Jesus Almador with the winning run.
The Aces had tied the game at 7-7 in the top of the seventh on a run-scoring double by Brian Reilly.
In the early innings, it was all Aces as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to six hits and a couple of walks off the Rattlers starting pitcher George Gafner. But in the second inning, Alamador came on in relief and shutdown the Aces for the next three innings. In the bottom of the fourth, the Rattlers scored four runs to close the gap and added three more runs in the fifth to take a 7-6 lead into the seventh inning.
Arnie White, who went 2 for 3 at the plate, pitched the first four innings for the Aces, while Lloyd Barzell came on in the fifth and pitched the final three innings. The Aces collected 13 hits in the game, but couldn't string together enough hits down the stretch to pick up the win.
