Baseball Games of the Past: 6th game of 1953 World Series
Baseball Games of the Past
Sixth Game of the 1953 World Series
The New York Yankees won the sixth game of the 1953 World Series 4-3 and won the title four games to two.
After Brooklyn's Carl Furillo had tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the ninth with a two-run homer, the Yankees came to bat needing one run to clinch the classic in front of a 62, 370 roaring fans.
Hank Bauer walked and Mickey Mantle reached on an infield single, bringing up Billy Martin with a chance to end it. He did just that with a single up the middle off Dodger reliever Clem Labine.
