We lost our "Blue" at 10:30 this morning. Our teammate and our favorite umpire Chico Bigham passed away due to complications from a fall sustained earlier in the week.
Chico, 79, was a workhorse when it came to taking care of our baseball field at Udall Park. On the field of play, he was simply indestructible with the ability to rebound from injury and return to the pitching mound when called upon. Chico would warm up faster and throw harder in the bullpen then most of our pitchers who toe the rubber and throw on a regular basis.
Our prayers are with Chico's wife, Dee Dee, and the Bigham family. Arrangements will be forthcoming.
