Wildcats improve to 4-0 in Pac-12 Conference
Arizona Wildcats Basketball
Arizona led by 20 points early in the second half and had all but put away the Colorado Buffaloes at Mckale Center tonight.
And then the 17-ranked Wildcats went to sleep, allowing Colorado to chip away at the lead and pull within five, at 69-64, with 2:39 left in the game. The Wildcats finally stopped the bleeding as Parker Jackson-Cartwright canned two free throws, Dusan Ristic banked in a field goal and Cartwright followed moments later with a shot inside the key to put the Wildcats up 75-66 and Arizona went on to win the game, 82-73.
Arizona improves to 4-0 in the Pac-12 Conference and 15-2 overall and now own a nine-game winning streak.
It was the Kadeem Allen show tonight. Allen scored 18 points, canned all three of his 3-point attempts, but more importantly, it was his outstanding effort on the defensive side of the ball against Colorado's Derrick White. White averages over 16 points a game, but scored only seven points.
Lauri Markkanen led the Wildcats in scoring with 22 points -- including 4 of 5 from 3-point range, while Dusan Ristic continues his current scoring spree with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Arizona led 39-27 at the half, but the Buffaloes outscored the Wildcats in the second half, 46-43. Colorado out rebounded the Wildcats, 38-32.
Up next: Arizona State on Thursday at McKale.
