Diamondbacks slip into 3rd place in NL West

Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks make it five in a row and slip into third place in the NL West with a 5-4 victory in 13 innings over the Chicago Cubs last night at Chase Field.

After a four-game sweep in Miami, the Diamondbacks get a game-winning hit in the bottom of the 13th from Nick Ahmed and improve to 20-21 on the season and are now five games out of first place in the NL West, behind LA and San Francisco.

Of course, it took a two-run blast to tie the game in the 10th inning by Paul Goldschmidt, his 11th homer and 35th RBI of the year.

The Cubs-Diamondbacks continue with the three-game series this weekend. Two more wins over the Cubs and the Diamondbacks could find themselves a game over the .500 mark.

Go, Diamondbacks!
