Centerfield Royals win Battle of the Bats Tourney
My grandson, Jadon, and his Centerfield Royals' teammates walked off with the championship trophy in the 12-and-under Battle of the Bats Tournament this afternoon at the Sport Park Complex. The Royals, who have a habit of finishing in second place in recent tournaments involving the top 12 year old ball players in Tucson, won it all this weekend after scoring 33 runs on Sunday with wins over the Scorpions (10-8), The Stealth (12-4) and Chuys Rockets in the finale, 11-8.
Down 7-4, the Royals battled back and took the lead in the final inning. They snuffed out a Rockets' rally in the bottom of the inning as they turned a double play with the bases loaded to end the game and secure the championship trophy.
Congrats, to Jadon and the Centerfield Royals!
