Blackbirds looking for their first win Thursday night

The Mountain Blackbirds will have their hands full Thursday night as they tangle with the  Mountain Braves at Reid Park in a 38-and-over Tucson Mens Senior Baseball League (TMSBL) game. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The Braves, 1-1 on the season, will take a team batting average of .400  into the encounter with the winless Blackbirds, who will be out to turn the tables on the Braves.

The Blackbirds pitching staff will have to put the clamps on Rick Urcadez and Jay Good, two of the top hitters for the Braves. Good has knocked in seven runs in two games, while Urcadez leads the team with a .857 batting average. The Blackbirds have a team batting average of .338. but, according to manager Robin Badart, the bats are smoldering and have yet to catch fire, after consecutive losses to the Red Sox, 11-6, and the Phillies, 7-6. Sean Flynn leads the  Blackbirds with four runs batted in, while Tom Bolen has knocked in three of the Blackbirds' 12 runs.
