Team Blue had all the big guns today in 13-1 TOTS' win

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

It was a lopsided game at Udall Park today as Team Blue had all the "big guns" in this one en route to a 13-1 win over Team White. Right-hander Reed Palmer sailed through all seven innings, allowing one  RBI-double to Thunder Tim Tolson.

In the meantime, Mike Dawson had three hits and knocked in three runs for Team Blue , while Ron Ryan collected two hits, reached base four times and knocked in three runs as well. Palmer added to the onslaught with a couple booming doubles, while Pete Peters supplied two key hits.

The TOTS have played the last few weeks without being able to add water to the baseball diamond at Udall. The lack of water has turned the infield into a mini Sahara Desert. Fortunately, a rare morning rainstorm unleashed enough raindrops two hours before game time today and brought the TOTS' field back to life.

The Parks and Recreation Department is working on the problem. Until the problem is fixed, the TOTS can use a "little rain-dusting" from above, prior to games. The TOTS play year around and have been known to play in rain, sleet, wind and snow, so an extra foot or two of dirt on the infield will not keep the TOTS from playing.

In fact, the TOTS have two games in the books this week and will close out the week with a 10 a.m. game on Friday.
