Winning final home stand a must for Diamondbacks

Arizona Diamondbacks

The Last Stand.

Sounds like a great name for a movie. In fact there was such an animal back in 2013, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The flick was full of action and plenty of adventure.

That pretty well sums up what the Arizona Diamondbacks are in for during their nine-game home stand, which gets underway tomorrow night at Chase Field -- first with a three-game series with the Chicago Cubs, followed by two NL West division foes -- Colorado and the LA Dodgers.

Arizona ended its three-game trip to Houston today with a 5-4 loss and dropped 2 of 3 to the Astros  to fall to 78-72. Now the Diamondbacks sit just six games over .500 with 12 games remaining. The final three games of the regular season will be in San Diego against the Padres.

The Rockies and the Dodgers are separated by a half a game in the NL West, while the Diamondbacks are resting in third place -- 4 1/2 games back. Wasn't it just the other day the Diamondbacks held the top spot?

Needless to say the Diamondbacks need to win all 12!

As Yogi would say, "it ain't over till its over."

Go, Diamondbacks!
