Panthers, Broncos advance
The Carolina Panthers pounced on Seattle early and then held on for a 31-24 win today to advance to the NFC championship game, while the Denver Broncos edged Pittsburgh 23-16 to advance to the AFC title game.
In Charlotte, N.C., Cam Newton and the Panthers built a 31-0 halftime lead and then fought off a determined Seahawks' team in the third and fourth quarter. Carolina will host the NFC title game next Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
In Denver, Peyton Manning and the Broncos survived a scare from the Steelers and will host the New England Patriots on Sunday in the AFC finale.
So, all the home teams were victorious this weekend and it comes down to the top four seeds playing for the big prize and a chance to be Super Bowl champs.
It's been a great weekend of football. Next week should be even better.
