Aces edge Arizona Rattlers, 7-5

The Tucson Golden Aces

60-and-over baseball

The Tucson Golden Aces scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning at Udall Park today and went on to a 7-5 win over the 60-and-over Arizona Rattlers.

Danny Boxberger, 65, a seasonal player from Vancouver, Washington, capped off the five-run rally with a two-run opposite field double.

Arnie White went the distance for the Aces to pick up the win, although he admits it wasn't his best outing. "I had control problems and walked too many batters," White said, after the game. White walked seven batters in the last three innings, but was helped out by a double play in the fifth and another twin-killing in the top of the seventh.

In the fifth, Aces' centerfielder Dennis Crowley ran down a gapper in left center, turned and doubled up the runner at second. In the seventh, shortstop Lloyd Barzell went to his left to snag a pop up and doubled the runner off of second base to end the game.
