Wildcats split in Starkville

The Arizona baseball team played in four games over the weekend in Starkville, Ms., and left town with a split -- losing two games to Mississippi State, 6-2 and 4-2, while knocking off Samford 7-1 and 12-5, the latter coming this afternoon as the Wildcats put together a 17-hit attack for the victory.
Scott Kingery led the Wildcats this afternoon with five hits in five trips to the plate. He scored three times and drove in two runs as Arizona heads home with a 10-4 non-conference record.
Kingery went 10 for 17 in Starkville and leads the Wildcats with a .492 average (30 for 61) with 14 games in the books.
The Wildcats return home and open a two-game series with New Mexico State on Tuesday. Game time at Hi Corbett Field is 6 p.m.
