Udall Park remains quiet

Corona Games

Northeast of Tucson, near the intersection of Sabino Canyon Road and Tanque Verde Road you'll find Udall Park. The complex is sprawled out over 172 acres, complete with baseball, soccer and softball fields, walking trails and even a fenced in area for Rufus and Bella to roam, attended, of course, with their owners at their side.

The park is usually bustling with sports nuts looking to get in a workout one way or another in hopes of keeping their body in good physical condition.

It's also the home of the 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers, an amateur baseball organization. The players meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and play America's favorite pastime. The old-time baseball club have been around since 1968 and are in the midst of its 52nd season, until the coronavirus came a calling and brought a sudden halt to all the games.

The Coronavirus is sweeping the country and Arizonans are doing their part to shelter in place. The park remains open, but visitors must adhere to rules set up by the Governor of Arizona Doug Ducey.
If you do visit the park, remain six feet away from the nearest human...in other words practice social distancing and no groups of ten or more.

As an added note:
On Sept. 11, 1982, Morris Udall officially opened Morris K. Udall Regional Park and tossed out the first soccer ball. He represented the Tucson region in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1961 to 1991.

As for the TOTS, we are all waiting patiently for the horn to sound to begin play again.
