North Carolina wins NCAA Basketball Championship
NCAA Men's Basketball Final
North Carolina survives a foul-plagued 40 minutes and beat Gonzaga 71-65 tonight in Glendale to win the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.
To be fair, 44 fouls were called -- 22 against the Zags and 22 against the Tar Heels.
It wasn't a pretty finale, but North Carolina closed out Gonzaga down the stretch. The Zags scored just 30 points in the final 20 minutes, shooting 33.9 percent from the field (20 for 59) for the entire game.
The Tar Heels finished with a 9-2 run and walks away with their sixth national championship.
