Opocensky, Price leads Team White to 11-6 win

Tucson Old Timers (TOTS)

60-and-over baseball

Joe Opocensky went 3 for 3 and scored three times, while teammate Pigpen Price knocked in five runs with a 2 for 3 day as Team White beat Team Blue's hard-throwing Reed Palmer 11-6 today at Udall Park in a 60-and-over Tucson Old Timers game.

Palmer, at 6-6, looks like Bill Walton on the mound (but less vocal) and it's tough getting around on his fastball, but today Team White had his number, despite the windy conditions.

With wind gusts up to 20 mph, it was a pitching duel between Palmer, from Seattle, Washington, and 6-foot, two inch George Staas, from Knoxville, Tennessee. In the end, Staas gets the win and Palmer is saddled with the loss.

Danny Boxberger had three hits for Team Blue in a losing cause.

The TOTS will be back in action on Friday at Udall. Game time: 10:00 a.m.
