Diamondbacks beat Halladay and Phillies

Manager Kirk Gibson made all the right moves and Lyle Overbay knocked in all three runs as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat Roy Halladay and the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2, tonight to increase their lead in the NL West to 3 1/2 games. Gibson went with the veteran first baseman Overbay instead of rookie Paul Goldschmidt. The move paid off as did Gibson's insertion in the ninth inning of pinch-runner Collin Cowgill, who scored all the way from first base on Overbay's two-run double to right-center field. The San Francisco Giants lost to the Braves in Atlanta, 2-1, in 11 innings. Can you believe it? The D'backs are now 69-53, they've won seven in a row and they just beat the best pitcher in the National League in Halladay, who fell to 15-5 on the season.
