Tucson Aces pound Rattlers 14-7 in a cross-town 60-and-over game

60-and-over Tucson Aces

Pete Maldonado pitched a complete game in his first start with the Tucson Aces en route to a 14-7 win over the Arizona Rattlers today at Mission Manor.

Maldonado struck out three and walked only two batters as he frustrated the Rattlers with his off-speed pitches.

The Rattlers had 10 hits, while the Aces banged out 17 hits -- including a double and a triple by Tim Tolson and another double by John Mathews. All eleven players who received playing time for the Aces hit safely.

Ernie Hernandez pitched the first four innings for the Rattlers and was saddled with the loss. George Gafner came on in relief of Hernandez in the fifth and the Aces greeted him with a five-run inning to put the game away.
