Arizona Wildcats Basketball

Freshman Lauri Markkanen scored 26 points and hauled in eight rebounds to lead 10th-ranked Arizona to a 78-66 win over CSU Bakersfield tonight at McKale Center.

Forty-five fouls were called in 40 minutes of action. With Kadeem Allen out with an injury, the Wildcats were back to a seven-man rotation. Four players -- Rawle Alkins, Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Keanu Pinter and Simmons finished the game with four fouls apiece.

Alkins hit four of six from three-point land and finished with 15 points, while Simmons added 13 points.

To the Wildcats credit all four players were still on the court at the buzzer.

Nothing is ever easy for our Wildcats.

Arizona improves to 2-0 and faces Sacred Heart at McKale on Friday.
