Markkanen leads Wildcats to win over Texas Southern

The 16-ranked Arizona Wildcats led by freshman Lauri Markkanen with 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and two blocks rolled to a 85-63 win over Texas Southern tonight at McKale.

Arizona had little trouble with the Tigers, although the Texas team did manage to hit 8 of 25 three-pointers, while Arizona finished 8 of 14 from three-point land -- five of those from Markkanen.

The Wildcats ended up with five players in double figures. Two freshmen, Kobi Simmons and Rawle Alkins, scored 15 and 14 points, respectively. Kadeem Allen added 14 points and Dusan Ristic chipped in 10 as Arizona shot 63.2 percent from the field, while hitting 57.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Arizona improves to 6-1.
