The state of Arizona football 2014

Things are looking good for football in Arizona.

The Arizona Cardinals are 8-1 after their victory Sunday over the St. Louis Rams. The only downer for the Cardinals is the loss of starting quarterback Carson Palmer. The Cardinals will have to rely on backup quarterback Drew Stanton the rest of the way, but Cardinals' coach Bruce Arians has gone public and has said his team can still win the Super Bowl with Santon at the helm.

Time will tell.

As for the top two collegiate teams in the state, the Arizona State Sun Devils are sporting an 8-1 record while our own Arizona Wildcats, fresh off a win over Colorado, head into this week's action with a 7-2 overall record.

That's a collective 23-4. That's got to be a first.

Of course, the end to the NFL season is a long way off and there are plenty of regular-season college games left in the 2014 schedule.

So Arizona football fans, throw the turkey in the oven, grab a comfy spot on the sofa and enjoy the rest of the year.
