Time runs out on the Arizona Wildcats

Arizona Wildcats Basketball

Time ran out on my Arizona Wildcats.

Wisconsin prevails in overtime 64-63 tonight in Anaheim in the NCAA West Region finale over the Wildcats. The Badgers move on to the Final Four, while the Wildcats head back to Tucson -- their season over at 33-5.

Arizona couldn't contain the Wisconsin big man, 7-footer Frank Kaminsky. To say he was a FORCE is an understatement. He scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and out dueled our big fella, Kaleb Tarczewski. The Zeus scored 12 points and hauled down four boards and our other big guy, Aaron Gordon, was a force on the boards as well with 18, but scored just eight points.

Nick Johnson led the Wildcats with 16 points and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson once again came off the bench to score 10 points. T. J. McConnell added nine points, but hit just 2 of 10 attempts from the field.

Still, Arizona had a chance to win the game and reach the Final Four. Kaminsky was the No.1 reason Arizona isn't going to the Final Four. The second reason: The Wildcats shooting. The Wildcats were 23 of 59 from the field and 12 of 17 from the foul line.

Still, Arizona's defense kept the Wildcats in the game. It seemed like Wisconsin shot better from the field, but they really didn't. The Badgers were 24-61 and Arizona had the edge in rebounds, 39-38. Arizona blocked five shots. Wisconsin none. Arizona had eight turnovers, Wisconsin had nine.

On paper, Arizona should have won the game. In my heart Arizona should have won the game.

In reality, Bo Ryan and the Wisconsin Badgers are going to the Final Four.
